At the age of 4, at Newport Harbor High School, she set the pole vaulting sophomore high school American record with a leap of 3.86 meters. Next year she broke it by a leap of 4,11 meters. Stokke was a household name after 2004 when she won her home the United States pole-vaulting title for 15/16-year-olds when she was just 15 years old. Fowler met Stokke through social media.
